What to Do While You Wait for Garage Door Repair

A few steps keep the problem from getting worse:

• Stop using the opener. Running it against a broken spring can turn a spring repair into a spring and opener repair.
• Don't try to lift a door with a broken spring by hand. It's carrying its full weight.
• Keep cars, kids and pets out from under a door that's stuck partway or hanging crooked.
• If the door is stuck open and the springs are intact, you can usually pull the red release cord and close it by hand. If a spring is broken, leave it.
• Unplug the opener if you can reach it safely.

Most same-day calls are springs, cables, rollers or opener repairs, and we finish them in one visit. Occasionally a repair needs a part that has to be ordered, most often a matching door section.
