Where to Mount a Garage Door Keypad

Keypads mount outside, beside the garage door, high enough that small children can't reach them and low enough to use comfortably. They need to be within range of the opener, which is rarely a problem, and ideally out of direct afternoon sun, which shortens their life.

Most keypads are battery-powered, so there's no wiring to run and the install is quick.

Temporary and Guest Keypad Codes

Most current keypads support a temporary code that expires after a set number of hours or uses. It's handy for a house cleaner, a dog walker or a delivery you want left inside, without handing out your main code or a remote.

If you already have a keypad and have never set up a guest code, we can do it on any visit.

Replacing an Old or Failing Keypad

Keypads live outdoors, and years of sun and rain take a toll. Faded buttons, keys that need a hard press, or a keypad that works only some of the time usually mean a worn unit or a weak battery.

We'll test it, replace the battery or the keypad, and pair the new one with your opener. It's also a good time to change your code if a lot of people have had it. Call us and we'll set it up in one visit.
